Steiff PADDINGTON BEAR (664960) - 60cm Mohair Boxed Ltd Edition 400/500. This magnificent 60cm tall, Paddington Bear Masterpiece was lovingly created by the marvellous artisans at Steiff. Paddington is fully jointed and 60cm tall. He has been sewn from a decadent, curly chestnut mohair with darker accents, plus a short pile, cream muzzle. Much time has been spent, carefully scissor sculpting, with delicate hand shading, in order to create the expressive and charming face before you. Enhancing his endearing, two tone brown eyes and kissable hand stitched nose. He has wool felt paws and flat feet, so that he can stand unaided aswell as sit. Aunt Lucy sent him from Peru with a wool felt bush hat (which he will never part with), his suitcase, which has been made from faux leather, with a wanted on voyage sticker, handle and clasp fitments.
Inside you will find Paddingtons most treasured treats - a marmalade sandwich, made from short pile and textured plushes with wool felt, plus a jar of marmalade, which is a labelled glass jar with a spotted cloth and ribbon top, filled with yummy marmalade (orange wool fibre). Aunt Lucy wanted to take care of Paddington on his journey too, so she created that all important label - Please look after this Bear. He proudly wears this, over his smart blue duffle coat, complete with pockets, wooden toggles and a tartan lined hood, which his adoptive family - the Browns bestowed upon him. This lovable Bear, is a Worldwide Limited Edition of only 500 pieces, this one being number 400 and will come to you boxed, with his numbered certificate of authenticity.
A must-have for any fan, that will make the most fantastic family heirloom. This bear has been living in a smoke free home with adult collectors, he has only been displayed and has not been handled much to help preserve him. He comes complete with his original box and certificates as shown in the photo. The box has some slight wear and tear from being stored. He truly is a stunning iconic bear and a must have for any collection.
For completeness I will mention a couple of minor faults. Firstly, on Paddington, his left eye has a couple of scratches, not the easiest of things to photograph but have tried to show this. Also, there are a couple of marks in the faux leather covering the suitcase, again, nothing majorly noticeable but pointing out for completeness.
